Chin Lee Tea & Dine 深利喫茶添味
About This Spot
Stepping into Chin Lee Tea & Dine 深利喫茶添味 feels like entering a quietly bustling corner of Singapore where tradition meets a warm, unhurried rhythm. Nestled in the folds of Canberra Plaza, this Teochew table embraces visitors with a fresh, thoughtfully modern look that still hints at the comfort of home-cooked memories. It’s the kind of place where the tempo slows just enough to savour food that’s cared for, dishes that quietly tell stories through their balance and subtlety.
The atmosphere here isn’t loud or flashy — it’s a space that invites genuine connection, whether you’re sharing conversation over a festive Lou Hei or settling in for a weekday lunch without the wait. Staff move with a gentle attentiveness, clearing plates and topping up tea with a thoughtful presence that keeps the flow smooth and easy, as if they’re welcoming friends rather than filling tables.
Food at Chin Lee reflects a mindful approach and a respect for the Teochew heritage, where lighter seasoning and natural flavors come forward. Each bite reveals layers of care, from the comforting, familiar ease of glutinous rice dishes to the unexpected crunch of a well-made fried oyster pancake. The presence of rich touches like lard doesn’t overwhelm but adds a nuanced richness that lingers like a quiet signature. These are the meals that settle warmly—not heavy or overdone—and invite you to slow down and enjoy without distraction.
Whether gathering for a celebration or a quiet moment away from the bustle, there’s a sense of thoughtful hospitality here. Conversations feel unhurried, the setting both modern and unpretentious, and the food a gentle reminder that sometimes, comfort comes in the details—a bowl of fish head soup that fills the room with warmth, a plate of EE Fu noodles that pairs simplicity with care, or a dessert like peanut sesame balls that offers a soft close to the meal.
Chin Lee is a welcome discovery for those who appreciate a local gem where atmosphere, subtlety, and genuine warmth blend quietly. It’s a space where food nourishes beyond flavor and where coming together is felt as much in the smiles exchanged as in the dishes served.

On February 6, a group of eight colleagues gathered at Chin Lee Tea & Dine for a festive Lou Hei lunch to celebrate Chinese New Year. As a Teochew restaurant, it emphasizes a healthier style of cooking. We ordered a variety of dishes, including a uniquely prepared Lou Hei. Notably, the meal left no aftertaste of thirst, which was a pleasant surprise. I was especially pleased to enjoy the yam paste dessert with a vegan option, meaning it was served without pork lard. The service was excellent, with attentive servers who promptly replaced our plates and ensured our tea was constantly refilled. Overall, we had a sumptuous and satisfying meal, well worth the price. No regrets!

Had a birthday celebration there over weekend. Modernly decorated, pleasing to the eyes. Prompt and friendly service. Love the heavy use of lard here... Every dish is infused with lard! Even steamed promphet! By the way, their promotion on steamed promphet is a must try. Or Luak is very well made here. Fried to crispiness, and full of lardy goodness! Must try. A good place for gathering in the north.

Went for lunch on a weekday, no need to wait. Tried dim sum & their caipo kway teow. Service was good, the staff was friendly and very attentive, keep helping us to clear empty plates & refill our tea, probably because it wasn't crowded too. Dim sum was ok, there's some hit & miss but still better than some other places. Beancurd roll, glutinous rice, siew mai (hkg style) & chicken feet were ok. Bao a little dry, carrot cake can be more crispy. The caipo kway teow is 1 of their signature, strong wok hey (charred fragrance) & tasty. Overall, pleasant experience & happy tummies.

Weekday extra value set for dinner is very worth it, food is delicious, can take away also. Signature Teochew kway teow with cai po is also very special and worth trying. Place is a bit out of the way but was surprised by the good quality of the Teochew food here. SAFRA members also have 10% discount.

Had made a reservations for three pax for 1pm, but somehow when we were there, they didn’t have a smaller table available n gave us a big round table which I think suited for 6-8 persons. We orderd their famous Oyster Pancake, Roasted Chicken, Beancurd with Shimeji mushroom n Chicken, Sweet n Sour Pork, Prawn Ball n Teochew Kway Teow. Except for the Beancurd dish which was nothing to shout about, the others were pretty good. The sweet n sour pork to me, is one of the best I’ve had….crispy on the outside. Service staff were ok, but as we were non-Chinese the waiter kept talking to us in Chinese, until another staff who spoke English came to our help. Special mention to the staff, Peggy who was not only pleasant n helpful but gave us impeccable service. One thing to note is that the restaurant charges a $2 per pax cover charge for tea, water n pkt of wet wipes. I think they should do away with this, be flexible n only charge a nominal fee for water, if the customer doesn’t want the wet wipes n tea, like many of the other restaurants.

Celebrated New Year 2026 with a scrumptious dinner for 7 with a 9 course dinner and it was a total gastronomical feast. We had the following... Fried Chicken, Sweet & Sour Fish, Long Beans, Cereal Prawns, Venison, Fish Maw Soup, Tofu with Minced Meat, Steam Pomfret and Orni for desert. The star(s) of the night must surely be the Steam Pomfret which tasted like it was freshly caught from the sea, a close second would be the Venison and Fish Maw Soup and Cereal Prawns... the Chicken and Sweet Sour Fish. Actually, all the dishes IMHO were Michelin standard. Go ahead, spoil yourself and treat your family to a truly authentic Teochew feast at prices that will bring you back many more times for more !!!!!!!!!
